Job Description

Senior Financial Analyst

SumBridge | Accounting and Finance Professional Services

Location: Renton, WA — hybrid (must reside in Washington State)

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000, depending on skills and experience

Employment type: Direct hire, full-time

The opportunity

SumBridge is partnering with a mission-driven, community-based nonprofit organization to hire a Senior Financial Analyst. This is a highly visible seat: you'll be the financial partner senior and operational leaders lean on to understand performance, pressure-test decisions, and plan what's next — with a particular focus on the financial health of grant-funded programs.

If you want analysis that actually changes decisions, at an organization where those decisions affect access to services, this is a strong fit.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate and contribute to the annual budget and quarterly forecasts alongside a team of financial analysts
  • Analyze revenue and expense, balance sheet, and cash flow statements at the operating-unit and organization level
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and improvement areas through analysis and modeling
  • Build and analyze pre-award grant budgets, and review budget-to-actual results with program stakeholders, fund development, and grants management
  • Translate results into narratives, visualizations, and conversations that land with senior leaders
  • Prepare ad hoc financial models pulling data from a variety of disparate systems
  • Own the financial reporting components of annual regulatory reports to state and federal agencies
  • Administer the FP&A system and its related internal controls, and support a new system implementation — including stakeholder adoption

Help build out treasury management within the FP&A function and support the annual risk management policy renewal

What you'll bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with 4–6 years of financial analysis and budgeting experience and 2+ years working with NFP or government contracts is desired — or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong command of GAAP, management accounting, and financial analysis; working knowledge of financial planning systems
  • Advanced MS Excel — complex formulas, pivots, and lookups — with real fluency pulling and reconciling data from systems that don't talk to each other
  • Hands-on financial modeling experience: building models from scratch, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and driver-based forecasting
  • Power BI experience for building reports and dashboards that non-finance stakeholders can actually use
  • The ability to define a problem, gather the data, establish the facts, and land on a defensible conclusion — then build an action plan around it
  • Clear writing and confident presentation skills; you can hold your own in front of executives and boards

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or an analytical field such as Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science
  • 2+ years in a structured program such as public accounting (audit or consulting)
  • Nonprofit and/or healthcare industry experience
  • CPA, CFA, or CGMA

Benefits and perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision for employees and their families
  • HSA and FSA plans
  • Life insurance, AD&D, and disability coverage
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Generous PTO accrual, 8 holidays plus 3 floating holidays, and extended illness time away
  • Compassion time away, and an extended time-off program of up to 8 weeks for staff to invest in themselves
  • Employee assistance and wellness programs
  • Voluntary discounted plans (critical illness, accident, identity theft, pet insurance)
  • Development and growth opportunities
