Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Reporting and Accounting team in Burnaby, BC.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will carry out accurate and timely external financial reporting and internal financial analysis while working with various stakeholders in the organization, including the Financial Control, Investor Relations, Legal, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis teams.

This role will be expected to contribute and support key initiatives including standardization and process improvements, including compliance with SOX and accounting standards. The Senior Financial Analyst must be a self-sufficient and proactive planner, agile to shifting priorities.

  • External Reporting & Financial Analysis
    • Support senior management by preparing detailed and succinct financial analysis to assess business performance and trends on a sector, geographic, and consolidated basis.
    • Prepare portions of the quarterly press release (Form 8-K), Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and other disclosures for quarterly and annual filings (Form 10-Q/10-K).
    • Facilitate the SEC and SEDAR+ filing processes to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Compensation Accounting
    • Prepare monthly detailed account reconciliations and analysis related to RB’s short-term incentive plans (STIPs).
  • Reconciliations & Journal Entries
    • Perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation in compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Support the corporate annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Financial Control, Investor Relations, Legal, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to support consolidated reporting requirements.
  • Other Duties

    • Assist with annual goodwill impairment assessments by reporting unit.
    • Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
  • CPA or equivalent designation (or significant progress towards).
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public company financial reporting, public accounting, or some combination thereof.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements; US GAAP experience is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience with MD&A/management commentary and SEC/SEDAR+ filings preferred.
  • Strategic problem solving.
