About Houston-Galveston Area Council
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?
ü Provide fiscal support to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s program and contracted operations
üAssist with the design of financial reporting systems and instruments for service providers to report expenditures
üApprove financial reports, verifying support documentation adequately meets billing, cost-sharing, and/or matching requirements effectively
üProvide updates to supervisory staff regarding current tasks and necessary action items
üParticipate on strategy teams supporting grant applications, developing grant budgets while ensuring adherence to funding guidelines and stipulations
üPeriodically prepare and update grant/service provider budgets, recommend fund transfers, and monitor expenditures
üWork closely with H-GAC’s Finance Department to maintain accurate financial records and troubleshoot problems
üPrepare and present information and financial reports to internal and external stakeholders
üDevelop and present fiscal management trainings for Board and service provider staff.
üAssist in reviewing issues identified in financial monitoring reports and provide recommendations to resolve issues
üAssist with Purchasing/Procurement, Financial Monitoring, and Lease Management
üSupport team members by gathering support documentation for agency audits
üReview contractor financial statements, cost allocation plans, and/or indirect cost plans
üEnsure all work is accurate, complete, and compliant with established procedures and federal guidelines
Key Qualifications
üKnowledge in finance and governmental accounting principles
üKnowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements and applicable federal, state, and local compliance regulations
üExperience with developing, modifying, and monitoring federal or state grant budgets
üProficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite, specifically Excel
üExperience with accounting software, preferably MIP
üExperience with project management software, preferably Asana
üStrong verbal and written communication skills
üService-oriented with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people
üCommunicates in a professional manner
üAbility to complete tasks independently
üStrong time management skills
Do you have…
üBachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
ü5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or in job-related duties

H-GAC's mission is to serve as the instrument of local government cooperation, promoting the region’s orderly development and the safety and welfare of its citizens.
