Your future role:


Alstom is seeking a highly experienced Senior Finance Project Manager to join our team in Bangalore, in charge of a New Zealand by destination, high critical RSC project, engineering in Bangalore and manufactured in Savli. In this critical role, you will be the financial leader for this high-criticality project and a key partner to the Project Director. Your expertise will drive financial strategy, performance, and compliance across all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to closure. Reporting to the Head of Finance, Rollingstock ANZ you will play an essential role in ensuring the financial success of projects, guiding decision-making through in-depth analysis, and shaping outcomes through active risk management and strategic insights. Your contribution will directly influence profitability, cash performance, and compliance with Alstom’s global standards and you will also be in charge of the financial activities pertaining to a legal entity.

You will:

  • Partner with the Project Director in all aspects of project steering, governance, and strategic direction.
  • Lead the financial performance of the project, ensuring delivery on margin, cash flow, cost control, and key KPIs.
  • Drive project financial strategy, including tax structuring, hedging, intercompany pricing, and funding arrangements.
  • Analyse and challenge project forecasts, providing insight on revenue, costs, and liquidity to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to contract negotiation, claim management, and risk mitigation, focusing on finance-related impacts.
  • Monitor compliance with financial rules, local regulations, internal controls, and IFRS standards.
  • Lead project reporting activities including Management Project Reviews (MPRs) and Financial Project Reviews (FPRs), ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful financial data.
  • Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities, including support for contingency and savings decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Operations, Procurement, and Tax to optimise project financial outcomes.
  • Coach and support Junior Finance Project Managers, strengthening finance capability across the business.
  • Promote a strong cash culture by managing billing, collections, working capital, and contract guarantee processes.

All about you:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in financial leadership roles within complex project environments — preferably in rail, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing finances for high-criticality, high-value projects with significant risk exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, Excel, and project financial tools; with deep understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Experience in a multinational organisation with exposure to cross-functional and cross-border project operations.
  • Advanced skills in negotiation, stakeholder management, and financial communication — with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Organised, analytical, and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and business impact.
  • High attention to detail, and strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and Alstom’s core values.
