Job Description

Sherwin Business Services – General Accounts (SBS-GA) is responsible for gathering, processing and verifying financial data, reconciling and ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and providing information for required stakeholders

This position will serve a key role in SBS-GA team across various global regions and is responsible for Fixed Asset transaction processing such as monthly close, balance sheet reconciliations, creating and updating the Fixed Asset whilst adhering to policy compliance. Proactively seek opportunities to improve accounting/ business processes and leverage standard functionality.

An appropriate accounting or finance certification are required. Favorable will be given with a minimum of 1.5 years related-work experience. The successful applicant will be flexible and tenacious, self-motivated with excellent communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is paramount.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The analyst could be handling any of the responsibilities below:-

a) Perform transactional processes accurately and timely within the FA SBS team into which the incumbent is assigned (Fixed Assets, Account reconciliations, etc.).

  • Review activity in construction in process accounts.

  • Extract Workbook files, update and send to local teams for population.

  • Load Workbook files into Fixed assets register as either CIP or capitalized assets.

    • Capitalize fixed asset items according to company policy.

      • Retire assets according to company policy.

      • Amend/update asset.

      • Setup intangible assets in the Fixed Assets module to facilitate amortization.

      • Help teach these tasks to new members of the team.

      • Research more complex issues related to the tasks above.

b) Month End Close

  • Provide support for month end close approximately since -3 working day till the 2 working day of the month.

  • Liaising with key personnel to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close.

  • Bring policy exceptions encountered to the attention of management.

c) Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • Assist internal parties as required (e.g. gather support required by internal auditors).

  • Pitch in to help with short term special projects and requests.

  • Help coordinate the team to accomplish short term special projects and requests.

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION

a. Required:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelors Degree or equivalent relevant experience.

b. Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and finance knowledge.

  • Good oral and written by English language capability.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Completion of relevant coursework or internships in accounting or finance.

  • Experience using accounting software, even if only in an academic setting.

  • Favorable will be given with a minimum of 1.5 years related-work experience

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and software.
  • Teamwork and collaboration in a professional environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Good knowledge in computer systems (Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and Power Point).
  • Proficiency in Mandarin read & write will be added as advantage.
