What’s the role

As an experienced engineer, you’ll lead and manage Engineering Services to terminals within Shell’s Trading & Supply Organisation (T&S). That means working virtually across a diverse range of cultures and countries, providing effective engineering services to Shell‘s UK Terminals and Depots.

Your challenge will be to successfully integrate the workstreams across various engineering functions, delivering safe and reliable operations, from inspection and maintenance, to managing assets and implementing Terminal capital programs – whilst, ensuring legal and Shell Performance Framework.

What you’ll be doing

The purpose of this position is to provide Engineering services to UK Distribution Operations Terminals, integrating the different Engineering functions and workstreams, enabling safe, reliable cost-effective operations of the Storage & Handling assets and sustainment of Asset Management Fundamentals.

In particular, for the assigned terminals, the Senior Facility Engineer will:

  • Manage Delivery of Small Capex and Opex Investments ensuring Compliance with Distribution Operations Asset Management Processes, while developing and Maintaining Risk Based Asset Master Plans

  • Embed, sustain and improve for all assigned terminals the Asset Management System, ensuring the full compliance of the Assets to the relevant Group and Business Standards, as well as applicable Regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure the engineering team work in a collaborative way, on common priorities and as an essential part of the Terminal Leadership Team alongside Operations, HSSE and other Business Partners.

  • Support the delivery of the HSSE agenda on site, with regard to construction safety and the associated performances of the relevant Vendors Ensure the safe and cost-effective delivery of the Inspection & Maintenance program, interfacing with the other Engineering functions such as the Reliability & Integrity and Regional Engineering Services Teams

  • Ensure that support is provided to Project Engineering, Construction Management and Construction Safety for assigned projects.

  • Manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes for the inspection, maintenance and project activities, leveraging other Engineering functions and external resources as required

  • Manage contractors and engineering service providers to ensure correct competent resources are in place and that they deliver to the terminal the required services on quality, on time and on cost

  • Ensure the Technical Authority structure is operational, and that adequate TA support is in place to deliver against business controls.

  • Support the Compliance & Assurance programs, which will include the quarterly Asset Performance Reviews and the relevant assurance activities, ensuring a quality and timely follow up and closure of the agreed actions

What you bring

Alongside your engineering degree and experience in project and asset management, you’ll need to be commercially gifted, with excellent communication skills. Plus you’ll have a leader‘s vision to drive and manage change. Beyond that, we’d hope to see some of the following on your CV:

  • Significant experience in Petrochemical Installations and delivery of Capital Projects

  • A background or understanding of the inter-disciplinary engineering functions at terminals and depots or other Hydrocarbon related assets

  • Familiarity with IT solutions (SAP, CAPEX Bay, etc), as well as Contracting & Procurement processes, Storage & Handling, Maintenance contractors and Post Award Contract Management process

  • Deep experience Project Management and Asset Management System

  • Proven experience as contract owner and/or holder for strategic contracts

  • Good knowledge on the reliability and integrity of Hydrocarbon related equipment

For the terminals under direct responsibility, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of Engineering (Projects, inspection, maintenance and more broadly to any asset integrity and reliability matters) and represent the Engineering function to their customers, the local terminal managers and operators.

The candidate has to interface both local teams at terminal level and a virtual organization, across cultures and geographically boundaries.

This position requires good communication skills across all levels of the organization.

The candidate will be exposed to change management to achieve asset management excellence mindset.

Good understanding of task key stakeholders and their expectations to end delivery.

The candidate will have to support and enable the change of way of working within the engineering Function and in particular ensuring:

An impeccable management of the interfaces with the other Engineering functions, with particular regard to the R&I, S&I and Project Lead teams The embedment of the continuous improvement culture on site
