Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Senior Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of MHANC-owned and operated buildings and residences throughout the region. This position is responsible for conducting routine preventive inspections and maintenance, supporting overall facility safety and upkeep, completing related administrative tasks, and helping ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for staff and clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect, maintain, and complete repairs related to plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical systems, floor coverings, locks, appliances, life safety equipment, and other facility maintenance needs.
- Coordinate administrative work with vendors and contractors, in partnership with the Director of Operations, to support facility repairs, maintenance projects, and related administrative tasks.
- Provide guidance and oversight to Facilities Maintenance Technicians as assigned.
- Notify the supervisor of repairs needed, safety concerns, warranty issues, or other facility-related problems requiring follow-up.
- Perform preventive maintenance and help ensure the safe and proper operation of building systems and equipment.
- Respond promptly to facility maintenance issues during scheduled working hours.
- Support the overall safety, cleanliness, and orderly condition of facilities, including completing special cleaning projects as needed.
- Assist with office and facility set-ups, including moving furniture, filing cabinets, equipment, and related materials.
- Maintain exterior areas by helping keep grounds free of trash and debris and assisting with leaf, snow, and ice removal when necessary.
- Complete assigned tasks and duties in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
- Use company-owned materials, supplies, equipment, and tools properly to prevent waste, damage, misuse, and accidents.
- Work independently, professionally, and in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Report completed work, results, problems, and concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Perform duties in accordance with the physical requirements of the position.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills are required.
- Knowledge of common methods, practices, materials, and tools used in building maintenance and repair is required, including the proper use, care, and storage of maintenance equipment and tools. Must be able to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks, follow directions, prepare reports of completed work, and read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
Other Qualifications
Driving required: Valid New York State driver’s license required. Driving record must be acceptable to the employer and the employer’s insurance carrier.
Computer skills: Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office applications and email, is required.
Other: Ability to communicate effectively in writing with vendors, outside contacts, and internal management.
