The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure, including HVAC systems, support equipment, and utility systems serving both cleanroom and general office environments. This role ensures compliance with GMP and internal standards while maintaining optimal environmental conditions required for high quality manufacturing, research, and administrative operations.
This position combines strong technical expertise in HVAC, support equipment and cleanroom systems with proven leadership capabilities to manage teams, drive operational excellence, support strategic facility initiatives, and lead capital and maintenance-related projects along with day to day facilities support.
Snapshot of Responsibilities:
HVAC & Facilities
Lead the operation, maintenance, and optimization of HVAC systems supporting cleanroom environments
Maintain control of temperature, humidity, airflow, pressurization, and filtration
Support controlled room HEPA certification activities for multiple facilities
Manage building systems through BMS/EMS platforms
Troubleshoot system issues and lead root cause investigationsPreventive Maintenance & Reliability
Own and manage the preventive maintenance (PM) program for critical systems, including HVAC, cleanrooms, compressed air, facility generators, and water purification systems
Ensure maintenance activities are compliant, documented, and effective
Develop lifecycle asset management strategies.
Develop predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliabilityFacilities Operations
Oversee daily building operations, including maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and infrastructure systems
Oversee facilities cleaning program
Identify and prioritize maintenance needs across all facilities.Projects & Capital Improvements
Lead facility and HVAC-related capital projects from planning through execution.
Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and contractor performance
Serve as primary liaison between internal teams and contractorsVendor & Contractor Management
Source, negotiate, and oversee third-party service providers (janitorial, landscaping, security, etc.).
Coordinate contractors across GMP and non-GMP projects
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standardsLeadership & Team Development
Lead and develop facilities and HVAC teams
Establish performance expectations and training programs.
Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Act as subject matter expert (SME) for HVAC and cleanroom systemsBudget & Planning
Manage departmental operating budgets and approve expenditures
Monitor utility usage and maintenance costs
Support long-range space planning and facility optimization initiativesWhat you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5–10+ years of facilities engineering experience.
Knowledge of HVAC systems, including HEPA filtration.
Strong understanding of airflow, pressurization, and contamination control.
Experience with BMS, EMS, CMMS, or ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Experience with commissioning, and qualification processes.
Project and contractor management
Leadership and team development
Problem-solving and root cause analysis
Experience in cleanroom environments (pharma, biotech, or medical device).
