The Marlin Alliance, Inc. is seeking a Senior Export Consultant to join our team in San Diego, CA. This position supports our DoD customer and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a DoD client export team and brief leadership on industry and intra-governmental issues related to Command Control Communications commodities (USML Cat. XI).
  • Coordinate responses to export license requests for the release of ITAR-controlled commodities, services, and technical data.
  • Develop DoD policy regarding the release of U.S. Government waveforms and establish risk analysis guidance for Combat Commands to safeguard warfighter preparedness.
  • Advise partner DoD organizations up to the "one-star" level on changes to export regulations and their organizational impacts.
  • Conduct initial commodity jurisdiction determinations for software-defined radios in support of the Department of State.
  • Develop and implement trade compliance programs, company-specific directives, and internal controls across impacted divisions.
  • Author Export Compliance Manuals and technical assistance agreements while providing ITAR/EAR training to management, employees, and clients.
  • Represent the company in matters involving the Department of State and Department of Commerce, as well as at global industry symposiums and trade shows.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade or a related field
  • 5-10 years demonstrated expertise in ITAR, EAR, and DoD export policy
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations related to international business
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, International Trade or a related field
  • Professional certification such as Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
