Job Description

As part of this journey, we are strengthening our Global Climate & Energy team and we are looking for a Senior Expert Carbon Footprint & Decarbonization to help drive our transition towards low-carbon products and value chains.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of product carbon foot printing, certification, and decarbonization strategy – directly contributing to Yara’s climate ambitions and market-leading low-carbon offerings.

About the Unit

The Global Climate & Energy (GC&E) team is part of YGP. GC&E is responsible for driving Yara’s global decarbonization efforts across its production system and upstream supply chain. The department is the main competence center for climate and energy topics and it leads four critical programs across Yara:


- GHG Program - Decarbonizing our upstream value chain
- Climate Risk Program - Managing physical & transition risks
- Carbon Footprint Management Program - Quantifying product carbon footprints and governing chain-of-custody approaches
- Energy Management Program Driving energy efficiency across production sites

Responsibilities

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance product carbon footprint models across Yara’s portfolio (conventional, renewable, and low-carbon products)
  • Collaborate closely with production sites to improve data quality and model accuracy
  • Lead interactions with external auditors and certification bodies to validate models across multiple standards
  • Contribute to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) where required
  • Support digitalization initiatives related to PCF

Chain-of-Custody & Digital Traceability

  • Support the design and implementation of chain-of-custody models (e.g., mass balance, book & claim)
  • Contribute to digital traceability solutions, ensuring data integrity and system interoperability
  • Support audit preparation and execution
  • Monitor and internalize developments in chain-of-custody standards and methodologies

Business & Commercial Support

  • Partner with product management, strategy, and commercial teams to develop low-carbon value propositions
  • Translate technical carbon insights into customer-facing business opportunities
  • Support customer engagement and strategic partnerships

Sustainability & GHG Reporting

  • Contribute to Scope 1, 2, and 3 data consolidation and reporting
  • Support Yara’s integrated sustainability reporting and climate-related disclosures

Broader Contributions

  • Support other Global Climate & Energy (GC&E) programs as priorities evolve
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on climate and energy topics
  • Help communicate complex topics through data-driven storytelling, presentations, and stakeholder engagement

Profile

You are analytical, impact-driven, and thrive at the intersection of technical depth and business application.


Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in ammonia or fertilizer production is a strong advantage

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of process, energy, and utility systems
  • Advanced data modeling and analytical capabilities
  • High proficiency in Excel (required); experience with SimaPro is a plus
  • Knowledge of GHG accounting and standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, ISO 14064/14060, ISO 22095) preferred
