Senior Executive - Industrial Engineering

(Based at Bodyline - Horana)

Embark on a journey of change with MAS, by joining Bodyline as a Senior Executive - Industrial Engineering based at Horana to provide timely and competitive costed SMV for product developments, applying methods and process innovation to reduce costs and improve productivity to ensure high profits and cost reduction. Accurate and timely preparation of GSD patterns and product make up construction to facilitate the smooth production processes. Continuously integrate with the operational IE team to standardize methods, SMVs etc. across divisions so as to ensure standardized SMVs are maintained for each style.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and provide accurate provisional and final Standard Minute Values (SMVs) and sewing constructions for new styles within agreed timelines.
  • Support product costing and sample development by preparing SMVs, initiating sewing constructions, and communicating machinery, attachment, trim and technology requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Apply industrial engineering techniques and process improvements to reduce production costs, improve productivity and achieve competitive costed SMVs.
  • Analyze garment operations and standardize sewing processes to build and maintain operational databases, minimizing changeover losses and improving ramp-up efficiency.
  • Provide training and technical guidance on GSD, sewing construction, method study and industrial engineering practices to enhance organizational capability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify production risks, develop mitigation plans and ensure smooth execution during bulk manufacturing stages.
  • Identify, develop, and implement innovative sewing methods, machinery modifications, attachments and productivity improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Drive the transfer and implementation of new production methods and best practices across manufacturing facilities through training, documentation and continuous improvement activities.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4- 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with experience in garment costing; GSD License issued by GSD Corporation UK will be an added advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles, work study methodologies, productivity improvement techniques and strong expertise in time measurement systems and techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, sewing methods, bonding, molding processes, machinery, folders, attachments and workplace engineering.
  • Sound understanding of production line balancing, factory layouts, capacity planning and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Good knowledge of the end-to-end garment manufacturing process, including order placement, costing, production planning, quality requirements and dispatch.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and training skills, with experience in cost rationalization, continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
