
Position Title: Senior Executive Assistant to the President/Secretary of the Board of Trustees

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.
Salary: Targeted salary range: $71,000-$79,800
Travel: Less than 10%
Brief Statement of Duties: Serve as the Senior Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
The Executive Assistant to the President provides high-level, confidential administrative and operational support to the President and the Office of the President, and serves as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Under the general direction of the President, responsible for a wide range of communication and coordination, including management of the President’s calendar. Exercise considerable independent judgement and responsible for analyzing and scheduling the President’s time through well-organized coordination of appointments, meetings, social engagements, and University and community functions with individuals and groups. In coordination with the Executive Director of Board and Government Relations, provide communication, coordination, and all related logistical activities to plan and execute NMU Board of Trustees meetings, including committees of the Board. Responsible for maintaining secure Trustee portal, database and all record-keeping of Board materials, including minutes.

Required Minimum Work Experience: Five years of administrative assistant experience including two years of experience working for an organizational executive or senior leader.
Office management and financial experience.
Special event planning experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Proficiency with computerized tasks to include any combination of the following: word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, internet or web-based applications.
Ability to take meeting minutes.
Bookkeeping skills, office management skills, and negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate exceptionally well, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders who are in contact with the Office of the President.
Excellent customer service skills and strong service orientation.
Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through.
Strong time management skills.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
One year of experience writing at the executive level and working to support the activities of a governing board.
Knowledge of a university's various operations.
Previous supervisory experience.
