If you enjoy variety, quick thinking and strong storytelling, this role offers a front-row seat to Singapore Polytechnic's most important stories. As part of SP's Department of Communications, you will help shape how SP is seen and heard through media relations, corporate storytelling, brand stewardship, issues management and internal communications. From pitching stories to newsrooms and advising stakeholders on messaging, to supporting brand initiatives and helping navigate high-stakes moments, you will play a hands-on role in strengthening SP's reputation and voice.

[What you will be working on]

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Media relations and news management: Draft media releases, pitch newsworthy stories, facilitate interviews, respond to media queries, support media engagement activities and build strong working relationships with local and relevant regional media.
  • News monitoring and reporting: Monitor print, online and broadcast media, track the news cycle and compile the Daily News Report for senior management.
  • Corporate storytelling and reputation building: Partner with schools, departments and research and consultancy centres to shape narratives, key messages and content that tell SP's story effectively across the right platforms.
  • Issues and crisis communications: Support crisis and incident communications, including messaging and stakeholder updates, to help safeguard SP's reputation during sensitive or high-stakes moments.
  • Brand stewardship: Maintain and refresh SP's branding assets, guidelines and templates; provide brand guidance to schools and departments; and work with agencies and vendors to develop new brand assets where needed.
  • Institutional and internal communications: Contribute to SP's annual report and help keep the SP community informed and engaged through platforms such as Campus TVs, SP Vine and SPOTLIGHT.

You will also have the chance to contribute to broader communications work, including:

  • Events and outreach support: Play an active supporting role in key events such as SP Open House and First Steps With SP, which are among SP's biggest annual outreach moments.
  • Projects and cross-functional support: Provide administrative or project support, including representing the department in internal and external project committees where required.
  • Team contribution: Stay versatile and pitch in across communications workstreams, in addition to your primary and secondary portfolios.

[What we are looking for]

  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in media relations, corporate communications or a related field.
  • Relevant qualification in communications, marketing, education, business or a related discipline.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English, with good interpersonal and communication/stakeholder engagement skills to engage students, parents, educators and internal stakeholders professionally.
  • A good understanding of Singapore's media landscape; familiarity with the regional media scene would be an advantage.
  • Existing working relationships with local media would be an advantage.
  • Self-driven, independent and collaborative, with the ability to multitask and stay composed under tight deadlines.
  • Creative and meticulous, with strong attention to detail and a good instinct for what makes a story newsworthy.
  • Adaptable, people-oriented and comfortable working across a wide range of communications workstreams.

If you would like a front-row seat to SP's biggest stories and a hand in shaping them, we would love to hear from you.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.

If you are shortlisted for the position(s), you should hear from us within 30 days of the closing date of the advertisement.
