Basic Job Purpose:
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for complex metal fabrication projects, including machined parts, assemblies, and weldments. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, engineering drawings, and project scope. The Senior Estimator will collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to support business growth and ensure profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for fabrication, machining, and assembly work.
- Break down complex assemblies into individual cost elements—material, labor, machine time, subcontracting, and overhead.
- Generate cost data and supporting documentation in compliance with Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements.
- Prepare compliant cost breakdowns, pricing narratives, and supporting data for government and prime contractor submissions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Program Management to validate assumptions and optimize manufacturing approaches.
- Utilize estimating and ERP tools such as Paperless Parts and Infor Syteline to generate, track, and manage estimate data.
- Provide feedback and insight into pricing strategy and competitiveness based on market conditions and historical data.
- Identify potential project risks, cost drivers, and value engineering opportunities.
- Participate in proposal reviews and pricing audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Mentor and support estimators, sharing best practices for cost modeling, process analysis, and quoting methodology.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in estimating and data management.

Experience:

Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5+ years of estimating experience in precision metal fabrication, machining, or welded assemblies.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (preferably Infor Syteline) and estimating platforms such as Paperless Parts.
- Proven experience producing TINA-compliant cost data, supporting certified cost or pricing data submissions, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and clients.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Strong understanding of metal manufacturing processes including CNC machining, welding, assembly, coating, and inspection.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Preferred

Qualifications:
- Experience in cost modeling for complex assemblies and multi-step manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of project management principles and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Familiarity with ASTM & MIL standards for materials and fabrication.
