Senior Estimator – Commercial & Public Construction

About the Opportunity

An established commercial general contractor in Northern Nevada is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This is a high-priority hire, and the company is prepared to be flexible on compensation for an exceptional candidate with the right depth of estimating and public construction experience.

This is not a role where you'll be handed individual scopes or daily estimating assignments. We're looking for a seasoned estimator who can independently own the entire estimating process, taking projects from early concept through final pricing and turnover.

What You'll Do

• Independently lead estimates from conceptual/preconstruction stages through final bid and project turnover
• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs and final pricing
• Estimate commercial and public projects, typically ranging from approximately $15M to $100M+
• Support Construction Management and Design-Build project delivery
• Review drawings, specifications and requirements across all major building trades
• Lead subcontractor solicitation, scope review, bid leveling and pricing analysis
• Identify project risks, constructability concerns and value-engineering opportunities
• Work directly with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and internal operations teams
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, pursuits and estimate presentations
• Maintain ownership of budgets and pricing as projects progress through design
• Ensure a smooth handoff from preconstruction to operations

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of hands-on construction estimating experience
• Strong background with a commercial General Contractor / Construction Manager
• Significant experience estimating public-sector projects of comparable size and complexity
• Experience with Design-Build and Construction Management delivery
• Ability to independently take an estimate from conception through completion
• Strong conceptual estimating, budgeting, takeoff, subcontractor pricing, VE and constructability experience
• Experience estimating across multiple building trades, rather than one specialty division
• Strong owner, design-team and subcontractor communication skills
• Bluebeam, Sage, Procore, Excel or similar software experience preferred
• Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related degree preferred; equivalent experience considered

Compensation & Opportunity

Target base salary is approximately $130K–$160K+, with flexibility to go higher for top candidates. The company understands that highly experienced Senior/Chief Estimators can command more and is willing to consider compensation accordingly.
