About the role

BMD Constructions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will play a key role in the preparation and delivery of competitive tenders across a range of projects.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial review through to submission and handover. You’ll work closely with internal teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate, well-informed estimates, while contributing to successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and analyse tender documentation to understand project scope and requirements
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities within tenders to support informed decision making
  • Source and evaluate quotations from suppliers, subcontractors and plant providers
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to gain a clear understanding of project conditions
  • Prepare accurate estimates using estimating software and industry data
  • Analyse pricing, indirect costs and overall project budgets to develop competitive submissions
  • Ensure all tender documentation, schedules and submissions meet requirements and deadlines
  • Participate in tender reviews, negotiations and approval processes
  • Support contract award processes and ensure alignment between tender and contract documentation
  • Prepare tender handover documentation and support project teams during project transition
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors

About you

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, tendering processes and cost analysis
  • Experience preparing detailed estimates and managing multiple tenders
  • Ability to identify risks and develop commercially sound solutions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High level of attention to detail and organisation
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience using estimating software (e.g. Expert Estimation or similar) is desirable
