What to Expect

The Estimating Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the estimating team of the Gigafactory Berlin Brandenburg. This person will prepare estimates for small and medium size greenfield and brownfield projects project budgets. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of construction cost estimating principles, collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, construction teams and contractors in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform material take-offs from 2D drawings and 3D models to validate design and contractor quantities.
  • Develop cost estimates ranging from high-level ROM to detailed bottom-up estimates.
  • Lead estimate review meetings and align with engineering, procurement, scheduling, and construction teams to ensure accuracy and complete scope coverage.
  • Identify project risks and integrate them into the estimating process.
  • Support the development and improvement of estimating systems, templates, metrics, and benchmarks.
  • Track estimate performance and collaborate with project controls and finance teams to produce regular reports.
  • Conduct ad-hoc cost studies to support rapid decision-making based on payback and return on investment.
  • Review and challenge all project spend requests against budgets and supplier costs.
  • Evaluate change orders and assess their impact on project cost and schedule.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and mentor junior team members.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in construction cost estimating and pre-construction services, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, or high-tech sectors.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with construction software such as Oracle Unifier, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, CAD, and similar tools.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and estimating resources including R.S. Means and Equipment Watch.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized with strong proactive communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interfacing at all levels of owner and contractor organizations.
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and multicultural environment with aggressive goals and timelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in cross-functional settings.
  • Collaborative, open-minded, and team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic.
