Location: Brisbane, QLD - flexible home, office and field-based role

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced environmental scientist or engineer to join our Queensland team and play a leading role in the delivery of environmental assessment, compliance, remediation and environmental management projects.

This role is suited to an experienced consultant who enjoys technical problem solving, project leadership and working with clients to develop practical and defensible environmental solutions. The position offers exposure to a broad range of projects and sectors, including energy, resources, infrastructure, manufacturing, chemicals and heavy industry.

While a strong background in contaminated land assessment and management is important, we are particularly interested in adaptable practitioners who can apply their technical skills across a range of environmental disciplines, including compliance, approvals, environmental due diligence, environmental management and remediation.

The preferred location for this role is Brisbane; however, other Queensland locations will be considered for suitably experienced candidates. The role involves a flexible mix of office, home and field-based work, together with periodic travel to project sites throughout Queensland and Australia.

Typical responsibilities:

·Lead technical delivery of environmental assessment, compliance, remediation and environmental management projects.

·Plan, coordinate and manage environmental investigations, including soil, groundwater, surface water and vapour assessment programs.

·Review, interpret and evaluate environmental data and develop technically robust and commercially practical recommendations.

·Author and review technical reports and project deliverables, including:

oPreliminary and detailed site investigations

oContaminated land assessments

oRemediation action plans and validation reports

oEnvironmental management plans

oCompliance and monitoring report

oEnvironmental approvals and supporting documentation

·Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for work completed by project team members.

·Lead the technical delivery and project execution of environmental assessment, compliance, remediation and environmental management projects.

·Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and specialist service providers during field investigations and remediation works.

·Engage directly with clients, regulators, contractors and other stakeholders to support project delivery and resolve technical issues.

·Contribute to proposal preparation, scope development and cost estimation for new opportunities.

·Support the development of junior and intermediate staff through technical guidance, coaching and project leadership.

·Contribute to technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the business.

·Strong technical knowledge of contaminated land assessment, remediation and environmental management principles.

·Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to develop practical and defensible solutions to complex environmental challenges.

·Exceptional written communication skills and demonstrated experience preparing high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.

·Strong verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

·Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver successful outcomes.

·Ability to work independently while providing leadership and direction within collaborative project teams.

·Sound professional judgement and a practical approach to balancing technical, regulatory and commercial considerations.

·A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications for this role include:

·Bachelor's or Master's degree in Soil Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

·Approximately 7-10 years' experience in environmental consulting or a closely related technical role.

·Demonstrated experience undertaking and managing contaminated land investigations, environmental site assessments and remediation projects.

·Strong understanding of the ASC NEPM and Queensland contaminated land regulatory framework.

·Experience managing environmental field programs, including soil, groundwater and surface water investigations.

·Demonstrated experience leading the preparation and review of high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.

·Proven project management experience, including management of scope, schedule, budget and project risks.

·Experience working across multiple environmental service areas such as compliance, approvals, environmental management, due diligence or remediation would be highly regarded.

·Current Australian driver's licence and the ability to work in Australia.
