Job Description

As a Senior Enterprise Architect, Governance, you will define, operate, and continuously improve the Enterprise Architecture governance framework. You will ensure that architecture principles, standards, decision flows, and review mechanisms are embedded in the organization and applied consistently across strategic programs, IT projects, and architecture communities.

As custodian of architecture governance, you will make architecture decisions transparent, traceable, and aligned with business and IT strategy. Working across federated architecture teams and governance functions, you will shift architecture involvement from late-stage approval towards early-stage advisory — combining governance discipline with pragmatic business enablement.

Your responsibilities:

  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve the Enterprise Architecture governance framework, including decision flows, review processes, escalation paths, and governance touchpoints.
  • Align Enterprise Architecture governance with IT, security, data, and innovation governance at group and segment level.
  • Embed architecture governance into portfolio management, demand intake, investment, project initiation, and delivery processes, and define when and how projects require architecture review.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate Architecture Review Board sessions, providing structured materials on architecture options, implications, risks, and recommendations.
  • Manage decision logs, action items, risks, exceptions, and follow-up measures, and support the escalation of key decisions to the relevant IT and business governance bodies.
  • Own and evolve Enterprise Architecture standards, policies, and guardrails, translating principles into practical decision criteria and project guidance, and maintain them in LeanIX or other relevant repositories.
  • Monitor compliance with agreed standards, identify deviations, risks, and exception cases, and define the required mitigation measures.
  • Define quality criteria for architecture deliverables and review documentation for completeness, consistency, and decision-readiness across the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with PMO, IT governance, security, data governance, innovation, procurement, and delivery teams to promote a shift from late-stage architecture approval to early-stage architecture advisory.

Your qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Informatics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in Enterprise Architecture, IT Governance, Architecture Governance, Solution Architecture, IT Strategy, or Technology Consulting.
  • Proven experience defining or operating architecture governance processes in complex organizations.
  • Experience preparing and facilitating architecture boards or senior decision forums, and working with architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and compliance mechanisms.
  • Experience working across global, matrixed, and federated IT organizations, managing senior stakeholders and influencing without direct authority.
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Architecture governance frameworks, decision models, and governance operating models, with strong knowledge of TOGAF or comparable frameworks.
  • Good understanding of application, data, technology, integration, and security architecture concepts, and familiarity with LeanIX or comparable Enterprise Architecture repository tools.
  • Ability to structure complex topics into clear governance processes and decision frameworks, with strong facilitation and moderation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
