
Reporting to the Chief Solutions Officer, the Senior Enterprise Architect will work with peers within Digital Solutions, across the St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) organization, partner hospitals and vendors applicable to their areas of specialty. In doing so this role is responsible for the on-going identification, evaluation, procurement, implementation and handover to Operations of complex solutions that integrate with the core SJHH clinical, business and operational (including cybersecurity) systems environments. Together with other architecture and related roles, they will provide technical leadership in establishing roadmaps, planning upgrades to existing SJHH solutions, and together forming a cohesive forward-looking technology strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•3 year Community College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or Cybersecurity required
•Undergraduate Degree in Computer, Software or Systems Engineering preferred
•Certification in Information Technology, IT Architecture, Networking (i.e. Cisco), Cybersecurity or Project Management Professional preferred
•Professional Engineer membership preferred
•8 years experience with Information Technology related implementation and support functions (ideally in healthcare)
•5 years experience with Information Technology, System, Solution, or Enterprise Architecture design and/or development experience (ideally in healthcare)

•Application Architect Specific Skillsets
-Experience with EMR (Epic preferred) and ERP (Workday preferred) platforms.
-Experience with HL7 standards (including v2 and FHIR) and other healthcare integration technologies.
-Experience/knowledge in Microsoft .net application development, MS SQL servers and databases.
-Experience with the design of medium to complex multi-table queries.
-Experience with the ITIL v3 framework and ongoing operational best practices.
-Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and development techniques (e.g. agile, lean, waterfall, etc.).
-Experience with relevant programming languages and software development tools (e.g. C#, JavaScript, C++, Angular).
-Understand and able to lead and/or practice application testing techniques and toolsets.
-Experience with and interest in automation techniques and solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness and applications and their use.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Continually assess existing enterprise solutions relative to SJHS needs. Identify where gaps exist and/or improvements are required.
•Stay current with evolving industry enterprise solutions, particularly those applicable to Canadian Healthcare.
•Formulate and share forward-looking technology roadmaps in support of both annual and longer-term capital investment, operational expense and workforce planning needs.
•Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent projects with a variety of technologies and stakeholders.
•Ability to largely self-manage, effectively prioritize tasks and deliverables in a complex multi project environment.
•Develop and maintain architecture diagrams and documents with input from vendors, peers, Digital Solutions teams and other groups in the hospital.
•Contribute to establishing an overall inventory of systems/applications and corresponding roadmaps that identify future related activities (i.e. technology introductions, upgrades, maintenance, deprecation and retirement).
•Work closely and effectively with project stakeholders and Digital Solutions teams within all phases of the software development lifecycle from design and planning through selection/development, testing and implementation.
•Collaborate with vendors, colleagues and end users to understand, clarify and establish technical and business needs and directions.
•Lead the review and selection of necessary solutions or components.
•Participate with Procurement in when appropriate in RFI, RFP, RFQ, VOR, OECM and similar purchasing vehicles.
•Determine if, when and where internal development may be necessary to arrive at a solution appropriate for the organization.
•Assist in the development of budget, timelines and setting of priorities relative to other projects and initiatives.
•Prepare briefing and recommendation material to support the approval of investing in and acquiring the chosen technologies or solutions.
•Work independently, or in partnership with a Project Manager for larger initiatives to plan, monitor and guide the delivery of the project deliverables.
•Identify, consult and advise on operational/user needs for the project and ensure they are properly reflected in deployment plans.
•Constantly consider and remain current on how technologies and solutions are to be best applied and used.
•Meet independently with Managers, Directors and SMEs to review requirements, address issues/risks and facilitate decision making required for successful implementation and positive user adoption.
•Provide or contribute to regular updates on progress and where necessary risk mitigation plans.
•Build or contribute to operational, disaster recovery, business continuity and end-user documentation for all solutions deployed.
•Develop and monitor execution of the Change Management, and Communications Plans to ensure that the organization and users are informed and prepared to function effectively in the new environment.
•Ensure that upon completion, business requirements are addressed and that user acceptance is achieved.
•Assist in knowledge transfer to operational support teams on new implementations or significant changes to existing solutions.
•On an as required basis, provide advanced levels of technical support and guidance to operational teams.
•Identify and promote relevant training opportunities based on engagement needs and emerging industry trends.
•Maintain own currency with industry trends, new technologies and enterprise class solutions.
•Assist in updating and refining the SJHH Digital Health Plan, Strategic Roadmap and similar directional documents.
•Participate in conferences, webinars and related healthcare innovation activities in the community behalf of the hospital.
