Under general direction of the Facilities Manager, plans, organizes, directs and coordinates line management and staff services of specific trades for West Valley Medical Center and surrounding hospital buildings. Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise operational functions of Physical Plant and perform other related duties as required. Responsible either directly or indirectly for a crew of employees consisting of Facilities Mechanics, operating engineers, service engineers and skilled trades personnel. Other essential duties include contractor support for all construction activities on West Valley property. Coordinate core building system maintenance and repair with outside service providers for the utility systems.

Salary Range: $98,200 - $214,600 / annually

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building facilities leadership role.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in acute healthcare setting.
  • Working knowledge of common Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Skills derived from operating and interacting with at least one CMMS in a hospital setting.
  • Effective time management and communication skills to help navigate a very dynamic hospital environment.
  • Ability to relate symbiotically and enthusiastically to individuals within a very large, diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate both a represented workforce and diverse external vendor pool.
  • Ability, confidence and willingness to make sound decisions in critical, dynamic situations, tempered by a strong sense of judgement to know escalation is needed versus reaction.
  • Ability and willingness to adjust to changing expectations, demands, and other conditions beyond incumbent’s control.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, air-handling distribution systems, temperature and humidity requirements, air changes and filtration within a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems within a hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements such as the Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, NFPA standards applicable to healthcare facilities and state/local building and fire codes.
  • Knowledge of building automation and control systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Infection prevention and control principles within a hospital setting.
