Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Manager - Project Execution you will lead the engineering execution of Steam Services upgrade projects and related new product introduction work. This role helps make sure complex engineering commitments are delivered safely, on time, and with strong technical quality across a global portfolio that supports steam turbines, generators, and clean combustion upgrades for nuclear, fossil, and industrial power plants.

You will bring structure, pace, and clear accountability to a global engineering organization. Your work will help improve delivery predictability, strengthen cross-functional coordination, and support customer commitments and business performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can connect strategy to execution, work well across functions, and help teams solve problems quickly and clearly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project engineering management function for Steam Services upgrade projects and related new product introduction activity.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and execution rigor so engineering scope is delivered safely, with technical quality, on time, and in line with cost and productivity expectations.
  • Drive clear project execution practices across engineering, including planning, prioritization, milestone management, issue resolution, escalation, and follow-through.
  • Make sure engineering teams are aligned to customer commitments, contractual needs, business priorities, and delivery requirements across the full project lifecycle.
  • Provide visibility to engineering leadership and business stakeholders on execution status, risks, resource constraints, schedule performance, and key actions needed to protect delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage interfaces across Steam Services Engineering, Steam Services business teams, and Gas Power Engineering teams needed for successful project execution.
  • Partner closely with design engineering, requisition management, manufacturing, sourcing, outage planning, field execution, product safety, and other technical and business stakeholders to ensure aligned execution.
  • Support effective decision-making and escalation management when execution risks, technical issues, or schedule challenges emerge.
  • Drive a one-team approach across the engineering execution network to improve responsiveness, reduce handoff losses, and strengthen delivery performance.
  • Support the translation of business demand into executable engineering delivery plans across the Steam Services project portfolio.
  • Help ensure resources are applied to the highest-priority execution needs and that engineering plans are aligned with project schedules, outage windows, technical readiness, and customer expectations.
  • Lead project execution reviews and operating routines that provide transparency to milestone attainment, open issues, engineering readiness, and delivery risk.
  • Drive consistent use of execution metrics, project status indicators, and management routines to improve predictability and support timely intervention when needed.
  • Partner with engineering and business leaders to identify and remove barriers that affect engineering delivery, cycle time, responsiveness, and project outcomes.
  • Reinforce a strong quality mindset across project execution, including technical rigor, review discipline, documentation quality, configuration control, and compliance with applicable engineering processes and standards.
  • Make sure project engineering teams proactively identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate execution risks that could affect safety, quality, schedule, cost, or customer outcomes.
  • Support robust lessons learned, problem solving, and corrective action follow-through to improve future project performance.
  • Help establish and sustain an execution culture that values accountability, transparency, urgency, and prevention over recovery.
  • Contribute as a member of the Steam Services Engineering leadership team, helping shape priorities, strengthen execution culture, and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of Steam Services Engineering project execution as part of the broader alignment within Gas Power Engineering.
  • Help drive improved ways of working across the project engineering management function, including standardization, simplification, and stronger management discipline.
  • Partner with operations, quality, lean, and functional leaders to improve execution performance and embed continuous improvement into daily work.
  • Provide direct leadership to assigned project engineering management resources and support their development through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and growth planning.
  • Own performance evaluations, development planning, salary actions, and promotion recommendations for direct reports, in line with company processes.
  • Build a strong project execution leadership team with the capability to manage a complex, global engineering project portfolio.
  • Role model the GE Vernova Way through visible leadership, accountability, customer focus, technical rigor, quality discipline, and teamwork.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical management, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in engineering, project execution, project management, or technical delivery leadership in an industrial environment.
  • Experience leading engineering execution or project delivery in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Experience working across multiple functions and managing schedule, risk, and technical delivery issues.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Technical knowledge of steam turbines, generators, clean combustion products, services, or operations.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting upgrade projects in power generation, rotating equipment, or service environments.
  • Experience leading managers or technical project leads.
  • Experience improving execution processes, operating rhythms, or continuous improvement practices.

What Makes This Role Stand Out

  • You will lead work that directly affects customer delivery, safety, quality, and business performance.
  • You will work across a broad global engineering network and help shape how the team executes as part of Gas Power Engineering.
  • You will have the opportunity to build stronger ways of working and help teams deliver with more speed, clarity, and consistency.
