Job Description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Design and develop suspension systems and components:
    • Independent & dependent suspension architectures
    • Leaf spring, coil spring, dampers, linkages, brackets, mounts
    • Sheet metal, Casting & forging part / Components
  • Create and release:
    • 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5
    • Engineering documentation with GD&T
    • Bill of Materials (BOM) through PLM systems
  • Define suspension geometry, layouts, and mounting schemes ensuring proper vehicle integration
  • Perform:
    • Tolerance stack-up analysis
    • Packaging studies and interference checks
    • Design feasibility reviews (DFM, DFA, DFS)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
    • CAE/MBD for durability, kinematics, and performance validation
    • Manufacturing for process feasibility and cost optimization
    • Suppliers for part development, tooling, and quality
  • Participate in:
    • Prototype builds, fitment validation, and vehicle testing
    • Ride & handling evaluation and durability validation
  • Identify design issues during testing/field usage and perform root cause analysis with corrective actions
  • Support design validation activities:
    • DFMEA preparation

Experience

4–7 years in suspension/chassis system design and development

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering

General Requirements

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Suspension system design (independent & rigid axle)
    • Vehicle dynamics (ride, handling, stability)
  • Experience in:
    • Sheet metal and casting component design
    • Suspension packaging and vehicle integration
  • Proficiency in:
    • CATIA V5 (3D modeling, assemblies, drafting)
    • GD&T and tolerance stack-up
  • Good knowledge of:
    • DFM, DFA, DFS principles
    • DFMEA, DVP, and design validation processes
    • PLM tools for BOM and engineering release
  • Strong problem-solving skills using structured methodologies (7 QC tools, RCA)
