Job Description

You'll be part of the team that authorises, creates, upholds and improves the standards across a large organisation, sit at the table with the decision makers.


In this role, you'll:


• Provide technical leadership, assurance and expert advice for road design and road safety assets across Transport’s multimodal road network.


• Lead the development, review and implementation of engineering standards, specifications and guidelines and asset management initiatives in a complex environment balancing safety, resilience, performance and compliance.


• Manage technical investigations, risk assessments, concessions and assurance activities to ensure to support safe, reliable and efficient transport outcomes.


• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including subject matter experts, industry, Austroads and government agencies, to drive continuous improvement and national harmonisation of engineering practices.

About you


• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in road design, road safety, traffic engineering, infrastructure asset management or related fields.


• Strong understanding of engineering standards, specifications, assurance processes and risk-based decision-making, ideally within a road or transport environment.


• Ability to provide credible technical leadership and influence outcomes through collaboration, stakeholder engagement and clear communication.


• Experience developing, interpreting or applying standards, technical guidance or engineering policies, and translating technical requirements into practical outcomes.
