Huawei's Heisenberg Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

Huawei’s TTE RAMS Lab is a corporate competence center responsible for researching high reliability and high safety architecture as well as technologies for complex intelligent system; Our goal is to provide Huawei products with cutting-edge researches and advanced technical solutions on intelligent reliability and safety for carrier grade ICT and safety critical systems such as autonomous driving so that our products provide our customers with best user experiences and performance.

Prevailing integration of intelligence into autonomous agentic platforms like multiple agent systems (MAS), robotics, autonomous driving requires rigorous safety considerations. Due to inherent deficiencies of current ML techniques such as regressive generative models, safety is still a major challenge for safe-critical intelligent systems, issues such as explainability, robustness and reliability pose obstacles for trustworthy applications. Complexity of changing and often adversarial open environment of the system makes brittleness of today’s ML methods a major safety risk factor.

Senior Engineer - Reliable Generative AI for Intelligent Agent Safety (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Investigating state-of-the-art research of reliability for generative AI models and agentic systems with focuses on safety and reliability, identify and formalize detailed challenges and deficiencies of investigated approaches.

• Conduct independent research of relevant topics with high technical priorities, publish on top conferences and journals, leading and contributing to the internal/external technical projects.

• Work closely with a group of domain experts and researchers from both Huawei teams and academia from external research communities, deliver research results and make impacts.

• Conduct collaborations with research institutions such as universities and other partners.

Your areas of expertise

• Successfully completed PhD or Master degree in Computer Science, E/E, Mathematics or other relevant engineering majors. Industrial experiences in AI relevant domains would be a plus.

• Solid background in mathematics, esp. in linear algebra, statistics/probabilistic theory, and possess in-depth knowledge of the theoretical foundations of machine learning also beyond auto-regression.

• Deep understanding and research experiences of current state-of-the-art approaches for AI safety in one or more areas such as computer vision /reinforcement learning/NLP with good record of publications in renowned conferences or journals,

• Hand-on experiences with the latest open-sourced agentic platforms, familiar with principles and their pros and cons.

• Hand-on experiences in the latest ML methods such as transformer(ViT/Text), uncertainty estimation and robust/reliability evaluations of AI models is a plus.

• Experience with foundation models for agentic applications such as vibe coding, robotics,

• Excellent programming skills and hands-on experience with main ML frameworks.

• Strong programming skill in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C/C++, Rust, Julia. Proficiency in assisted development with automated code generation is wished.

• Experience and knowledge of system safety design would be a plus.
