Senior Software Engineer – ESQA (Quality Engineering)

Education & Experience

  • B.Tech / BE / MCA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on quality engineering and test automation.
  • Solid hands-on experience in Java, with the ability to contribute beyond test automation when required.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Skills

  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and developers to understand business requirements, functional specifications, and technical designs.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Java-based test automation and supporting utilities.
  • Experience with REST Assured for API automation and Playwright using TypeScript and/or Java is mandatory.
  • Understand existing test automation frameworks and application architecture, and enhance them to support new features and system changes.
  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases based on business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for enterprise-grade applications.
  • Work closely with sprint teams to test sprint stories, analyze changes, and identify regression scenarios suitable for automation.
  • Perform applicable SDLC activities including requirement analysis, impact assessment, and effort estimation for assigned work items.
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and collaborate with development teams for resolution.
  • Verify defect fixes and ensure deliverables meet defined quality standards and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in test planning, release readiness, and quality discussions.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and assist in investigating and resolving issues raised by business users or production support teams.
  • Participate in production support activities on a rotation basis when required, including issue investigation and coordination to ensure timely resolution.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to occasionally align with US business hours to support releases, stakeholder interactions, or critical production needs.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational quality standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Create and maintain test documentation, execution reports, and quality metrics; communicate progress and risks effectively.
  • Demonstrate ownership, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide clear daily and weekly status updates to stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Experience working in fast-paced Agile delivery environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB Foundation Level or equivalent, and SAFe Agile certifications.
