As Sweden’s only full-scale indium phosphide wafer fabrication facility, we design, manufacture, and test some of the world’s fastest optical chips—all under one roof—enabling our engineers to see their work progress from wafer to finished product, supporting data centres, AI infrastructure, and global communications.

Location: Jarfalla, Onsite | Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Photonics IC Automation and Test Design to lead the planning, execution, and optimisation of automated optical and electrical testing for photonic ICs and opto-electronic systems. The role focuses on validating functionality, quality, and performance while designing robust, efficient, and scalable test solutions for development and manufacturing environments.

Working closely with a highly collaborative R&D team, you will play a key role in advancing test automation strategies, improving test throughput, and developing innovative test methods across the product life-cycle.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, execute, and analyse automated optical and electrical tests for opto-electronic components and systems to ensure performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test setups, including hardware, instrumentation, test flows, and measurement sequences for characterisation and verification.
  • Drive test efficiency, repeatability, and robustness, ensuring test stations operate accurately and consistently.
  • Analyse test data, interpret technical requirements and standards, and document results clearly and accurately.
  • Represent the Product Development Test Team across the full component and OSA development lifecycle, from concept through manufacturing readiness.
  • Collaborate with R&D and hardware engineering teams to develop new automated test methods and continuously improve existing test processes.
  • Support project planning, performance requirement reviews, and product specifications across development phases.
  • Troubleshoot complex optical and electrical performance issues and lead root-cause analysis to improve test quality and yield.

ABOUT YOU

  • MSc or PhD in Optoelectronics, Electronics, Engineering Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in optoelectronic or electronic device development and testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience in automated testing of opto-/electronic devices for RF and DC applications, with a focus on test system design rather than software development.
  • Solid laboratory background using advanced optical and electrical measurement instrumentation.
  • Strong foundation in applied mathematics and physics, including device characterisation and statistical analysis of test and measurement data.
