Job Description

A Senior Engineer in the Performance Engineering team will execute highly technical services on many turbine/plant configurations (Gas, Steam, Combined Cycle) both in the field and remotely. The successful execution of these global services will require adherence to internal processes while being open to challenges that may arise. Engineers are accountable for the quality our customers feel when purchasing our services. Areas of customer quality include accurate/timely documentation, appropriate/timely installation of instrumentation, accurate collection of field data, various site activities, and communications.

Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a leader in driving compliance with company policies and testing group procedures, standards, and best practices

• Demonstrate deep organizational awareness and strong engagement with key local and global Gas Power stakeholders
• Build, strengthen, and leverage a broad global network to support business and technical objectives

Technical Responsibilities
• Act as a recognized technical authority in field thermal performance testing and diagnostics
• Lead the advancement and standardization of performance methods, tools, and processes to improve technical rigor and execution quality
• Direct the analysis of complex test data, validation of results, and diagnosis of challenging technical issues across projects
• Lead complex, multi-event, and multi-technology testing programs, ensuring effective coordination of teams, schedules, and deliverables
• Drive plant equipment diagnostics, root cause analysis, and performance optimization initiatives
• Define and establish detailed, high-quality NPI testing strategies in close collaboration with systems and product engineering stakeholders
• Provide technical oversight and conduct high-level peer reviews of field test data, analyses, and customer deliverables
• Lead the technical development and mentoring of less experienced engineers to strengthen overall team capability
• Demonstrate full technical independence in the setup and oversight of standard testing instrumentation and associated DAQ systems
• Apply expert-level knowledge of instrumentation and DAQ fundamentals to guide, coach, and supervise others
• Communicate complex engineering risks, findings, and recommendations clearly to both technical and executive-level stakeholders
• Champion the capture and sharing of technical knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned across the organization
• Serve as a subject matter expert in core technology areas and provide technical leadership across the broader team

Commercial Responsibilities
• Lead the development of field performance test strategies based on contract requirements, commercial guarantees, and project scope
• Proactively identify and act on opportunities to protect GE Vernova’s commercial interests and mitigate technical and performance risk
• Provide senior-level support for internal and external commercial and technical ITO discussions
• Exercise sound judgment in balancing deviations from process and technical standards with customer, project, and commercial objectives
• Drive productivity and execution excellence across field testing activities
• Champion and contribute to new service development initiatives that support business growth and customer value

Basic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in the areas of thermal performance modeling, field testing or thermal evaluation .
• Ability to travel extensively in support of global assignments.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, thermodynamic systems (Combined Cycles), and thermodynamic cycles as they relate to gas turbines, steam turbines, and HRSG's.

Desired Characteristics:

- Advanced degree in Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience
- 8+ years of experience in thermal performance testing
- Advanced knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition system installation and operation
- Advanced understanding of control system instrumentation, calibration, and performance impact
- Advanced understanding of turbine design and operating philosophy
- Expertise in thermodynamic modeling and performance analysis
- Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel and programming capabilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expertise in data reduction and reconciliation analysis
- Experience working in cross-functional environments
- Extensive experience working with customers and presenting to varied audiences
- Knowledge of Gas Power business models
- Self-starter with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and development
- Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Communicates clearly, concisely, and professionally
- Proven ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
- Strong service mindset with the ability to anticipate obstacles and customer needs

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
