BHP is a global resources company operating across more than 90 locations worldwide, with a purpose to improve lives and support a more sustainable future. Through Copper South Australia (Copper SA), we are building a leading copper portfolio that supports the global energy transition, supplying materials essential for renewable energy, electric vehicles and digital infrastructure. For you, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your career, make a meaningful impact, and help shape the future of one of Australia's leading copper businesses.
Carrapateena is a large, modern underground copper-gold operation and one of South Australia’s most significant mining developments in the past decade. Located approximately 160km north of Port Augusta on the traditional lands of the Kokatha people, Carrapateena combines cutting-edge mining methods with a strong focus on safety, innovation and performance.
With an expected mine life of more than 20 years and ongoing investment to expand production, including the transition to large-scale block cave mining, Carrapateena offers the opportunity to build a long-term career in a future-focused operation.
Designed with automation, digital systems and efficiency at its core, the site provides exposure to advanced underground mining and evolving technologies, supporting safer, smarter and more connected ways of working.
Our goal is to deliver each business plan and project milestone safely and on time with value creation at the heart of how we operate.
This role is responsible for executing the 13-week mine plan, encompassing development physicals and vertical development (raisebore), while maintaining safety performance and cost compliance to budget.
It is expected that you will drive continuous improvements in safety and production, including processes, systems and operational projects, all essential in a SLC production ramp-up and the development and operational readiness phase of our future block cave.
Location: Carrapateena, South Australia
Roster: 8 days, 6 days off; we have flights daily to site from Adelaide or 3x per week from Port Augusta
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience in safety leadership.
