We are seeking a skilled and motivated Dynamics/Structural Engineering professional to join our Gearboxes and Turbine Products team in Rockford, Illinois. This role is ideal for an engineer who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
What You Will Do
Review structural and dynamic models, engineering drawings, and analysis inputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with analysis standards
Collaborate with design, test, and systems engineering teams to integrate structural dynamics requirements and ensure accurate load paths and system‑level responses
Build, refine, and execute finite element models; perform modal, harmonic, transient, and static analyses using industry‑standard tools
Investigate complex structural or vibration‑related issues and drive analytical solutions for fatigue, resonance, shock, and dynamic load problems
Support new product development by predicting loads, assessing structural margins, and optimizing designs based on dynamic and static performance criteria
Provide technical guidance on structural analysis methods, model validation, and best practices; mentor junior engineers in simulation workflows
Develop and implement standard procedures for model development, analysis documentation, and correlation with physical test data
Prepare analysis reports, load summaries, model review packages, and technical documentation for design reviews and program milestones
Lead dynamic characterization of components and assemblies, including evaluation of stiffness, damping, natural frequencies, and system response
Improve product robustness by correlating FEA results with test data and integrating learnings into design and manufacturing improvements
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering documentation
Qualifications We Prefer
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
Experience performing structural and dynamic analyses using Ansys is strongly preferred.
Prior experience working within a matrix organization, including cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, producibility, and engineering teams, is highly desirable.
Experience in support of engineering activities within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Background in aerospace systems and industrial power transmission products, including gearboxes and turbine-related applications, is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
