The Senior Engineer – Gas Turbine Application Engineering will lead critical and complex customer proposals, shape winning solutions, and provide technical leadership across global teams. This is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer who combines strong gas turbine knowledge with commercial awareness, customer focus, and cross-functional leadership.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own the technical content of proposals for GE Vernova Gas Turbine configurations in partnership with the Commercial Operations and Design Engineering teams to help secure new orders.
  • Review customer and EPC requests for proposal (RFPs) to evaluate technical requirements and define the appropriate gas turbine scope of supply.
  • Develop technical comments, clarifications, and exceptions to customer specifications, clearly identifying areas of compliance and deviation.
  • Identify special customer requirements and work with engineering and sourcing teams to develop competitive, executable solutions.
  • Define proposal strategies for gas turbine and associated equipment on large, complex projects.
  • Partner with Engineering, Commercial Operations, Product Finance, and Product Line teams to align technical scope, cost, schedule, and bid strategy.
  • Lead technical discussions with regional application engineering teams, product engineering, execution engineering, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality proposals.
  • Support early-stage customer engagement by helping guide customers toward preferred configurations and standard offerings where appropriate.
  • Lead technical scope and cost reviews for key opportunities, with support from the costing team as needed.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and help build technical capability across the global application engineering team.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, methods, standard work, quality, productivity, and cycle time.
  • Support the introduction of new products and features to improve gas turbine competitiveness in the market.
  • Stay current on product developments, industry trends, and internal processes, and promote their effective adoption within the team.
  • Be available for occasional international travel to support customer meetings and technical clarifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in design engineering, application engineering or project execution within the power generation industry.
  • Significant experience working with customers on combined cycle power projects.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine product portfolios, performance, and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Experience in tendering, proposal development, and deal strategy for new units or gas power services.
  • Understanding of combined cycle plant requirements and the ability to evaluate technical and commercial trade-offs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical reviews across global teams.
  • Demonstrated success driving Lean or continuous improvement initiatives.
