About Us
We are currently seeking a Firmware Engineer with extensive VHDL experience and experience of FPGA and ASIC design or test to join our team within Collins Aerospace Electronic Controls and Motor Systems, Solihull. As part of our firmware team you will be involved in the implementation of controls for motor drive products for aircraft electric and hybrid electric propulsion.
We are working at the forefront of development of electric propulsion technologies, with motor and motor drive design being developed at our site. In 2026 we launched three new multi-year programs as part of the Clean Aviation Join Undertaking, these programs lead Europe in the development of technology blocks for future aircraft with entry into service expected in 2035.

What You Will Do:
You will work in a collaborative team, working on complex specialist support to the design and development of high-performance world-class motor drive systems.
You will bring extensive Firmware / FPGA Experience, writing VHDL code for control of electric motors
You will work within our Firmware team as part of a larger multi-disciplinary project development team, applying best engineering standards and developing robust design practices.
You will own the RTL design, the FPGA implementation (synthesis, place & route) and will also support the testing of the overall digital controller inside the power converter.
