Ready for your next move at ASM?
You already know what makes ASM special: our people, our purpose, and our passion for innovation. Now’s your chance to grow your career from the inside, take on new challenges, and shape what’s next with us.

As a Senior Engineer, Field Service, you will serve as an internal escalation lead, using deep system‑level expertise to resolve the most complex technical challenges across multiple ASM toolsets. You will guide root‑cause analysis, prevent recurrence, and collaborate closely with engineering, design, and customer teams to enhance stability, performance, and efficiency. Your leadership strengthens our service organization, elevates field capability, and drives improvements that directly support ASM’s mission of enabling the world’s most advanced semiconductor technologies.

What you will be working on

  • Lead internal escalations and root‑cause investigations for complex, multi‑factor technical issues
  • Diagnose system interactions across mechanical, electrical, software, and process‑integration domains
  • Identify performance trends in areas such as gas delivery, thermal control, and process deviations, and drive resolution with Field Service Engineers
  • Mentor peers on advanced diagnostic strategies and contribute to improvements in troubleshooting protocols
  • Supervise safety procedures, provide team training, and support internal and external safety audits
  • Map unit‑process variables to device physics and design DOEs to enhance yield and stability
  • Select appropriate measurement techniques for sensitivity and sample constraints and troubleshoot instrumentation
  • Coordinate escalations, quantify technical and operational risk, and prevent issue recurrence
  • Align customer needs with design constraints and draft upgrade proposals spanning multiple fabs
  • Lead complex escalations while balancing production pressure and technical risk, and capture lessons learned

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience, OR a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience OR PhD degree with 0+ years of experience.
  • Deep understanding of tool architecture, process interactions, and advanced system‑level troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated experience leading root‑cause investigations and cross‑functional escalations
  • Ability to interpret complex schematics and diagnose issues involving multiple engineering disciplines
  • Experience supervising safety compliance and supporting audit activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams in high‑pressure situations
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Proficiency with MS Office

What sets you apart

  • Strong expertise in gas delivery, thermal control, vacuum systems, plasma, RF, or instrumentation
  • Experience mapping process variables to device physics and designing DOEs
  • Background coordinating cross‑site escalations or multi‑fab upgrade initiatives
  • Ability to influence customers and guide discussions during high‑impact technical escalations
  • Experience mentoring peers and shaping troubleshooting methodologies

Apply today to be part of what’s next.

We make the tech that enables the chips in devices which improve lives around the world. We do this with an eye to the future, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible through cutting-edge innovation, and driving the next wave of technological breakthroughs that shape how we live, work, and connect.

About ASM

At ASM, we’re shaping the future at the atomic level. We enable the next generation of microchips by empowering leading semiconductor manufacturers with advanced wafer processing equipment.

Through our mastery of thin-film deposition, we create the innovative tools and solutions that shape the materials at the heart of tomorrow’s technology – powering everything from AI and next-generation healthcare to cloud computing and smarter, more energy-efficient devices.

With over 4,600 people representing more than 60 nationalities across 15 locations worldwide, we’re united by one ambition: to stay ahead of what’s next. And with research centers in seven countries and nearly a quarter of our people and profits devoted to research and development, excellence is our baseline, not our finish line.

Our pioneering thin-film deposition technologies – like atomic layer deposition, epitaxy, silicon carbide, chemical vapor deposition and vertical furnaces – help our customers push the limits of performance, speed, and efficiency. Our strong patent portfolio, flat organization, and agile way of working enable fast collaboration, global mobility, and a competitive edge far beyond our scale.

Every day, we work to make integrated circuits smaller, faster, more energy-efficient, and more powerful. Together, we’re advancing technologies that unlock new potential and improve lives.
