About Us

PowerTech is a leading innovator in propulsion technologies, specializing in cutting-edge microjets, turbofan engines, and internal combustion engines. We are dedicated to advancing propulsion systems through rigorous testing, precision engineering, and robust manufacturing processes.

You will lead the assessment of structural durability and life expectancy of propulsion-system components across POWERTECH’s product portfolio. You will be the technical owner of component life prediction and service-life substantiation across rotating and static engine parts. This role is responsible for translating design intent, loading environment, material behaviour, manufacturing route, and inspection capability into practical life predictions, design allowables, and replacement or inspection strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and own lifing methodologies for critical propulsion components, including rotating and static parts.
  • Assess component life using appropriate approaches for fatigue, creep, oxidation, thermomechanical loading, vibration, fracture, wear, and damage tolerance.
  • Translate engine duty cycles, thermal environments, and structural loads into component life predictions and design limits.
  • Define and review the structural integrity basis for parts such as turbine wheels, NGVs, stators, shafts, casings, combustor hardware, bearing structures, and piston-engine hot and loaded components.
  • Evaluate the effect of material choice, microstructure, coatings, heat treatment, casting, forging, additive manufacturing, machining, and inspection quality on life.
  • Support design teams with design-for-life recommendations, including geometry changes, stress reduction, cooling improvements, material upgrades, and process controls.
  • Correlate analytical predictions with test evidence, including rig testing, endurance testing, strain/temperature data, metallography, and field observations.
  • Contribute to qualification plans, design reviews, certification-style evidence packs, and risk assessments for new engines and component upgrades.
  • Build internal standards, databases, and best practices for component lifing and structural integrity.

Mandatory qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in gas turbine engines, piston engines, rotating machinery, or high-performance structural systems.
  • Strong background in fatigue, fracture mechanics, creep, thermomechanical analysis, and structural lifing.
  • Experience assessing the integrity of components affected by temperature, vibration, stress concentration, material scatter, and manufacturing variation.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis and structural assessment methods for high-integrity components.
  • Experience linking materials and manufacturing to structural performance and life prediction.
  • Strong technical judgement, reporting ability, and cross-functional communication skills.

Desired skills

  • Experience with engine life management, repair structural assessment, or durability engineering in aerospace propulsion.
  • Familiarity with safe-life, damage-tolerance, and retirement-for-cause approaches.
  • Knowledge of nickel superalloys, titanium alloys, steels, aluminium alloys, coatings, and AM materials behaviour.
  • Experience with test correlation, mission cycle definition, probabilistic lifing, or reliability-based methods.
