Job Description

Preferred Experience:

  1. Experience with large-scale colocation, hyperscale, or enterprise data center environments.
  2. Knowledge of energy-efficient electrical system design and renewable integration (e.g., battery storage, solar).
  3. Background in electrical system monitoring, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  4. Prior experience in design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and oversee the implementation of electrical systems for new builds and retrofit projects, including MV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, switchgear, PDUs, and busways.
  2. Develop and review detailed electrical engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical specifications.
  3. Perform site assessments and capacity planning for power distribution and redundancy.
  4. Ensure electrical systems meet Tier requirements (e.g., Uptime Institute), NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local code standards.
  5. Support and coordinate commissioning activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
  6. Collaborate closely with mechanical, architectural, and controls teams for integrated system design.
  7. Analyse electrical system performance and recommend improvements for energy efficiency and operational reliability.
  8. Manage electrical design consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with design intent and project timelines.
  9. Lead or contribute to root cause analysis and remediation of electrical incidents or outages.
  10. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the engineering team.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  2. PE (Professional Engineer) license is strongly preferred.
  3. 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years in data center or mission-critical environments.
  4. Deep understanding of power distribution, grounding, harmonics, power quality, and fault coordination.
  5. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools.
  6. Experience working with electrical infrastructure for Tier II–IV data centers.
  7. Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA 70 (NEC), ASHRAE, and Uptime Institute standards.  Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions.
