The Computational Scientist plays a key role within the Research and Technology Development team, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of advanced computational models for reservoir navigation and subsurface analysis.

This role focuses on translating physical principles and mathematical formulations into efficient and scalable software solutions. By combining deep scientific knowledge with strong programming skills, you will help develop high-performance algorithms that power next-generation subsurface technologies.

As a Senior Engineer – Computational Science, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing numerical methods to solve mathematical models and algorithms for borehole geophysical measurements

• Translating physical concepts and equations into efficient, scalable, and maintainable algorithmic solutions

• Optimizing code performance, including parallelization and high-performance computing techniques

• Contributing to the design and integration of computational solutions within production software systems

• Collaborating closely with scientists, engineers, and software developers in a multidisciplinary environment

• Participating in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of software development practices

• Supporting innovation through research, experimentation, and technical publications (e.g., SPE, EAGE, SPWLA)

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a strong academic background in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline (MSc or PhD preferred)

• Demonstrate experience in numerical modelling, simulation, or computational science

• Have strong programming skills in C++, C#, Python, or similar languages

• Possess solid understanding of algorithms, numerical methods, and mathematical modelling

• Have experience with high-performance computing, parallel programming, and cloud-computation

• Be familiar with common software development practices (e.g., build pipelines, version control Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban)

• Show strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
