This individual will perform computer modeling and simulation of Chiller Solutions components and systems. The engineer is responsible for developing and applying numerical models to simulate components and systems with the objective of predicting component and system performance accurately and efficiently, including both steady-state and transient analysis. This position requires a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer. Competency in simulation methods for components for use in chiller products and systems is required. Experience with testing and evaluation of results in an engineering laboratory environment are required.
What you will do
Chiller component and system modeling:
· Working with minimal supervision, develops and applies computer program models to simulate chiller components and systems.
· Develops component models or applies component models developed by others.
· Develops steady-state and dynamic simulation models of thermal components and systems based on first principles and test data.
Product engineering support:
· Participates as a member of a project team to ensure projects are completed according to schedule.
· Collects, analyzes and interprets test data. Analyzes product performance.
· Provides models that can be used for product design and optimization.
· Provides direction to personnel in the establishment of chiller rating programs.
· Develops innovative product ideas to improve performance and reduce cost.
Other duties:
· Stays informed of technical developments in the area of modeling and provides recommendations for future modeling activity to ensure state of the art capabilities.
· Provides technical direction and guidance to technicians, drafters, lab personnel, engineers and/or programmers as needed.
· Other related duties may be assigned.
what we want:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Master’s degree preferred.
Computer programming experience required
Programming experience with a compiled software language desirable.
Modelica experience desirable.
Knowledge of Building Efficiency product portfolio desirable; HVAC&R industry experience desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability.
Candidate must be well organized and capable of managing numerous competing priorities.
Excellent people skills with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within a diverse organization.
Strong oral and written English language skills.
Capability with standard MS Office tools.
Ability to travel 5% of time.
