This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, based in our Petone office near the train station, cafes and the beach
The remuneration range for this role is $ 108,644 to $153,379 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a senior engineer!This role is suited to a technical professional with experience in drinking water networks. It offers an opportunity to make a difference through optimising drinking water distribution across the Wellington Region. You will take the lead on strategic planning and delivering network investigations that will ultimately lead to improved reliability of drinking water supply for the community.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration this role will also see you:
Involved in tactical planning across the region’s drinking water network
Mentor and develop graduate and intermediate engineers
Provide technical support for the capital program and investment planning
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Civil Engineering) CPEng highly desired.
Strong technical knowledge in drinking water networks
Sharp investigative skills with a solutions focus
Excellent relationship management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills

About us
Wellington Water Ltd is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We’re a multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities. From 1 July 2026, a new chapter in water services begins. Tiaki Wai will take over responsibility for providing Three Waters Services to approximately 433,000 residents across the Wellington metro regions.
Tiaki Wai will own the water assets it operates giving it greater independence to manage and improve water services for current and future communities, Wellington Water employees will transition into this new council-owned entity.
