Job Description

Our client, a public sector body, are seeking a Senior Energy Project Manager to join their team in Cork.

This function delivers a broad range of technical, project management, and advisory services in relation to the procurement, development, operation, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure and facilities.

The team is responsible for the design, specification, procurement, and delivery of capital projects, including new builds and refurbishments, as well as asset management, property services, and health & safety compliance across a diverse estate.

This is an initial 1 year rolling contract, with the possibility for further extension.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of large-scale energy retrofit and decarbonisation programmes, including both pilot and national rollout projects.
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, including planning, resourcing, procurement, and execution of capital works.
  • Procure and oversee design teams, technical advisors, contractors, and energy performance specialists.
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders, including internal teams, external agencies, and project leads, to ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Develop and implement project briefs, tender documentation, and procurement strategies in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, and reporting, ensuring delivery to agreed quality and performance standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction strategies across the organisation’s estate.
  • Provide technical guidance on energy performance, sustainable design, and infrastructure decarbonisation.
  • Oversee maintenance, minor capital works, and lifecycle planning for buildings and infrastructure.
  • Promote best practices in energy management, sustainability, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 8 (or higher) QQI-accredited degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, accredited by Engineers Ireland (or an equivalent qualification), or hold membership of Engineers Ireland.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, including experience in design, project management, and construction, or in the installation and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge, along with proven project management and leadership capability
  • Possess the competence, professionalism, and organisational skills required to successfully deliver on the responsibilities of the role.
