About the Role

As a Senior Employment Officer, you’ll work directly with job seekers to help them build the skills and confidence needed to secure and sustain long-term employment. You will develop career pathways, support goal setting, and coach clients through a strengths-based, culturally responsive framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Engage job seekers through strengths-based assessments and facilitate support plans tailored to their employment goals.
  • Mentoring & Support: Coach job seekers throughout their journey, including after they commence employment, to help them overcome challenges and stay on track
  • Service Delivery: Maintain accurate records, guide job seekers in meeting reporting requirements, and ensure all tools and practices are current and effective.
  • Training & Activities: Assist job seekers in identifying skilling and development opportunities that align with their mutual obligations and career goals.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure services align with contractual obligations and internal policies, while providing timely updates to management.
  • Cultural Responsiveness: Build respectful, culturally safe relationships with Aboriginal clients, families, and communities.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory:

  • Experience working with Indigenous Australians and rural/remote communities
  • Understanding of complex barriers facing disadvantaged job seekers
  • Ability to align employment options with labour market needs

Highly Regarded:

  • Certificate IV in Employment Services (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience supporting people with diverse and complex needs (e.g., disability, mental health, homelessness)

What You’ll Need

  • A current C Class driver’s licence (essential)
  • Current National Police Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • WA Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
