Job Description:

Senior Embedded Firmware Developer

Are you an expert in embedded C development, passionate about building robust systems, and ready to take on the challenge of developing software for safety-critical applications? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Microchip Denmark is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Developer to join our experienced team working on the full software stack for Ethernet switches used in the automotive industry. You will be part of a local SW team focusing on creating turnkey Switch firmware, and will be working closely with other teams in the same building doing the low-level drivers and RTL team designing the HW.

Your Role

You'll primarily work in the application layer of our embedded software stack, contributing to management interfaces, protocol support and safety features. Your responsibilities will span the full development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and specification to implementation, testing, and documentation.

Depending on your interests and experience, you may also:

  • Mentor junior developers
  • Take on leadership responsibilities
  • Take lead on architecture, Switch features, FuSA and/or security
  • Contribute to process improvements and standardization efforts
  • Engage with industry standards bodies

Our Environment

We develop software for Microchip-designed Switch SoCs, PHYs, and evaluation boards. Our work is shaped by:

  • Tight resource constraints
  • Fast boot requirements
  • Compliance with standards such as ASPICE, ISO 26262, MISRA, and IEC 62443

Our deliverables include everything from bootloaders and operating systems to configuration management and Layer 2 switch protocols.

About Microchip Denmark

Located in Herlev, our R&D site is home to 35 engineers covering all disciplines—from product definition and RTL design to software development and technical support. We’re part of Microchip’s Network Communication Systems (NCS), with global teams in the USA, India, Taiwan, and China.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Must-have:

  • Strong proficiency in C and embedded software development
  • Experience with software requirements specification and standards-driven development
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Solid communication skills in English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Ethernet, CoAP, CORECONF/YANG, PTP
  • Familiarity with software security, GIT, MISRA, ASPICE, functional safety standards
  • Exposure to standardization work or industry bodies
