We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Freelancer) for a project in the automotive industry.

Project details:

• Contract type: B2B / Freelance

• Duration: April 2026 – December 2026

• Location: Timișoara, but candidates can be based anywhere, as long as they are able to travel to the client’s location in Timișoara a few times per month

• Work setup: Hybrid; occasional onsite presence in Timișoara will be required

• Rate: 38–40 USD/hour

• Develop embedded software using C / Embedded C

• Work with communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, LIN, SPI and Ethernet

• Implement service-based communication (SOME/IP, Service Discovery)

• Work with automotive diagnostic protocols (DoIP, UDS, Diag, COM)

• Understand business requirements and contribute to system design and architecture documentation

• Perform debugging and testing activities

• Use tools such as RTC, JIRA, CANoe, Unit Testing, Lauterbach, ISOLAR, Git

• Work with microcontrollers and support Ethernet testing

• Apply strong analytical, logical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of experience in embedded software development

• Strong programming skills in C / Embedded C

• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet

• Knowledge of 10Base T1S, 100/1000 Base T1

• Experience with service-based architectures (SOME/IP, Service Discovery)

• Knowledge of automotive diagnostics: DoIP, UDS, Diag, COM

• Good understanding of system design and architecture

• Experience with debugging and testing tools (CANoe, Lauterbach)

• Experience working with tools such as RTC, JIRA, ISOLAR, Git

• Experience with microcontrollers and Ethernet testing

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with SDV / VIP Architecture

• Experience with ITCG testing

• Experience with specific automotive tools (MCGT, DPS etc.)
