Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician (Sludge Processing & Energy Recovery)

Location: Houthalen-Helchteren
Duration: As soon as possible – 02/07/2027 (Approx. 14 months)
Status: Full-time
Schedule: Two-shift system (Early/Late)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician to oversee the high-quality and reliable operation of a specialized sludge processing and drying facility. This role is central to a circular economy initiative, transforming wastewater by-products into green energy sources and raw materials.

The successful candidate will be responsible for both the technical maintenance of the plant and the active monitoring of the purification process, ensuring environmental standards and operational efficiencies are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Operation & Monitoring

• Conduct regular facility walk-throughs to ensure all systems are functioning optimally.
• Monitor process parameters, analyze trends, and make necessary adjustments to the installation to maintain high-quality output.
• Collect and analyze samples to verify the efficiency of the sludge processing cycle.
• Ensure accurate administrative follow-up and detailed reporting of process data.

2. Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Utilize strong electromechanical knowledge to identify and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and drying equipment.
• Carry out technical repairs to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.

3. Safety & Administration

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with industrial safety standards.
• Manage administrative tasks using Microsoft 365 applications.
• Participate in specialized safety training, including entering confined spaces and safety guard protocols.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Technical Expertise:

• Electromechanics: Advanced knowledge of electromechanical systems and industrial electricity.
• Certifications: Valid BA4 certificate (Internal Warning Sign) and a strong foundation in basic industrial electricity are required.
• Mechanical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in mechanical maintenance and repair.
• Process Monitoring: Demonstrated experience in monitoring industrial trends and adjusting complex installations.

Software & Languages:

• Languages: Full professional proficiency in Dutch is mandatory.
• IT: Proficient in Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Excel, Teams) for reporting and communication.

Experience & Attributes:

• Proven experience as a technician in an industrial or process-driven environment.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of responsibility.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and technical troubleshooting.

Working Conditions & Schedule

This position operates on a two-shift rotation alternating weekly:

• Shift 1 (Early): Monday to Friday, 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM.
• Shift 2 (Late): Monday to Friday, 02:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
• Weekends: Occasional day shifts (08:00 AM – 04:00 PM) may be required based on operational needs.

Compliance & Health:

• Vaccinations: Due to the nature of the work environment, Hepatitis A and Tetanus vaccinations are mandatory.
• Safety Training: Mandatory training for "Entering Confined Spaces + Safety Guard" will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)

• Aerial work platform certificate.
• Roller Shutter Operator Certificate.

Additional Information

The daily rate for this consultancy position is all-inclusive, accounting for the shift-based work system. Candidates must meet all predefined criteria regarding language proficiency and technical certifications to be considered for this role.
