
The Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the Design Engineering team at EATON Wimborne. The Design Engineering team are responsible for the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical designs and production of drawings across all product lines at MSD Wimborne.
Design Engineers are allocated to projects as required and the role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of products.The role encompasses all aspects of the product lifecycle from support to bids, development of system requirements, concept design through to issue of production standard drawings. The Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will also provide support to production concessions and in service issues where applicable.
The candidate will require experience in electro-mechanical assembly enclosure design, loom/wiring harness design and generation of PCB Assembly drawings. The candidate should be fully capable of using 3D CAD to model sub-systems, equipment (including component parts) and looms/wiring harnesses, whilst working within large, complex models. The candidate should have experience with EWIS requirements to ensure compliance while routing the looms/wiring harnesses. Previous experience in consideration of EMC, and knowledge of IPC manufacturing standards.
• Demonstrated technical skills leading a design aspect of a project, experience with design processes managing multiple technical project deliverables.
• Good technical and analytical (Fluid Dynamic, Stress, Electrical …) knowledge base with the ability to understand and generate analysis.
• Experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the aerospace or equivalent high technology industry.
• Experience writing Statements of Work for subcontract services and managing remote workers.
• Experience in New Product Introduction of aerospace products.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical product design and qualification.
• Experience with CAD packages such as CREO, Catia or Solidworks
• Experience working with Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with Six-Sigma quality tools
• Experience working with data management systems (PLM)
• Experience with Loom/Wiring Harness design.
• Experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) enclosure design.
• Experience with generation of PCB Asembly drawings.
• Experience with EWIS.
• Experience in consideration of EMC.
• Experience with CE/UKCA marking of equipment.
• Knowledge of IPC manufacturing standards.
• Experience with peer checking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong report writing skills.
• Knowledge or strong interest in aerospace system technology.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Authority to work in the UK and within the US ITAR legislation.
