Senior Electrical Supervisor – Southern Water

Location: Chichester (with travel across the Southern Water framework)

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Supervisor to play a key role in the successful delivery of projects across the Southern Water Framework.

Reporting into the project delivery team, you will lead a team of Electrical Supervisors, ensuring the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of electrical installation works across a portfolio of projects. Working closely with Project Managers, the MEICA team and Commissioning teams, you will help ensure works are completed to programme, quality standards and commissioning requirements.

You will oversee electrical installation activities throughout the project lifecycle, support successful project handover, and promote a collaborative, "Right First Time" approach to delivery.

What you'll be doing:

Senior Electrical Supervisor Responsibilities

In addition to undertaking Electrical Supervisor duties, you will:

  • Lead the electrical delivery of an assigned project portfolio.
  • Manage and support a team of Electrical Supervisors, providing day-to-day leadership and line management.
  • Ensure a full understanding of project MEICA requirements, commissioning needs and interfaces with existing assets and processes.
  • Champion Galliford Try's Design-to-Commission & Takeover approach, working closely with design teams to integrate new works safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate competent electrical resources across projects in collaboration with Operational Managers and the Head of MEICA & Commissioning.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding activities in partnership with HR.
  • Identify development opportunities and support training, mentoring and professional growth within the team.
  • Monitor performance against business KPIs and recommend improvements to safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure electrical delivery meets project and programme requirements across the portfolio.
  • Maintain compliance with electrical quality processes and procedures.

Electrical Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise electrical installation works on assigned projects.
  • Ensure electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.
  • Support the design team with electrical specifications and technical design considerations.
  • Supervise electrical subcontractors, ensuring high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality.
  • Carry out inspections, snagging and quality assurance activities to verify compliance with relevant standards.
  • Act as Electrical Authorised Person (AP) under Galliford Try Electrical Safety Rules, including switching operations and control of work on electrical systems.
  • Ensure individuals working under your control are competent, qualified and suitably briefed.
  • Review and approve RAMS for electrical installation activities.
  • Undertake routine electrical safety inspections and ensure required testing, maintenance and inspections are completed.
  • Support commissioning activities through all stages of commissioning and plant implementation.
  • Manage and progress snagging items through to completion.
  • Support operational and maintenance activities through to plant takeover and reliability testing.
  • Work closely with Client Asset Operations teams to ensure seamless integration with existing assets.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, asset standards, WIMES requirements and Galliford Try procedures.
  • Coordinate with specialist support teams, including DSEAR advisors, Technical Authors and Document Controllers.
  • Ensure electrical activities are effectively coordinated with Galliford Try and subcontract delivery teams.
  • Contribute to programme planning and ensure commissioning activities are integrated into the overall project programme.
  • Attend and support commissioning meetings and witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) where required.
  • Oversee electrical testing in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure all records, inspection documentation, test certificates and O&M information are accurately maintained and submitted.
  • Drive timely completion of outstanding works and defects.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all project activities.

About you:

  • Solid experience within the water industry.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering electrical installation works on site.
  • Experience working directly with clients and resolving issues that may affect project delivery.
  • A track record of delivering electrical installations through to successful commissioning and project takeover.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices.
  • Good understanding of water industry processes and operations.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment used within the water sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including report preparation and presentation.

Qualifications (or working towards):

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • CSCS or ECS card in a relevant discipline.
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
  • SSSTS (minimum requirement) SMSTS (preferred)
  • Electrical Authorised Person (Low Voltage).
  • BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations – 18th Edition.
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 Testing and Inspection.
  • City & Guilds Authorised Person Module.
  • CompEx FxF or equivalent.
  • First Aid at Work (preferred)
  • DSEAR Awareness (preferred)
