Job Description

Imagine a future where you play a key role in ensuring electrical safety across our offshore substations and wind turbines while helping us push the boundaries of safe, efficient, and reliable offshore operations.

Join us in this role where you’ll take independent ownership of electrical safety within your area of responsibility, overseeing electrical installations on wind turbines in our German wind farms. You’ll combine your deep technical expertise with on-site presence—both at your permanent base in Norddeich and offshore—in order to guide colleagues, strengthen procedures, and ensure safe systems of work.

Welcome to HV and Transmission GER

You’ll be part of HV and Transmission GER, where you and your colleagues will ensure electrical safety governance and operational support across high-voltage infrastructure in our German offshore wind farms. Your team is dedicated to managing safety-critical systems, uplifting operational standards, and sharing expertise across the organisation.

As a team, we collaborate closely, support one another’s development, and bring a proactive, solution-oriented mindset to every challenge.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • preparing and reviewing risk assessments for offshore electrical work
  • supporting the selection, training, and supervision of Authorised Persons, electricians, and electrically instructed persons offshore
  • contributing to the qualification and supervision of contractors in the offshore electrical environment
  • developing, implementing, and improving maintenance plans for offshore electrical installations
  • coordinating multiple employers involved in offshore electrical activities
  • planning, organising, delivering, and documenting electrical safety training
  • implementing, strengthening, and regularly reviewing the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and Orsted Electrical Safety Rules (OESR)
  • assuming designated roles within the Safe Systems of Work, such as Authorising Engineer, Authorising Officer, or Training Mentor
  • auditing work processes before offshore deployment.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have completed a degree within electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • bring strong expertise within electrical safety, including standards, laws, and regulations
  • demonstrate technical leadership competence
  • offer switching experience in high-voltage environments above 20 kV
  • communicate confidently in both English and German at B2 level or higher
  • are comfortable using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, SAP, and AI tools
  • ideally have a qualification for live working, experience with wind turbines, or prior responsibility as an electrician
  • meet the minimum competency requirements within your onboarding timeframe, supported by our learning and development processes.

Country-specific requirements: fulfil the requirements of a responsible electrician (vEFK) according to VDE 1000-10.

Please note that in this role you will be mainly working in our office in Norddeich from Monday to Friday. An important part of the role will be an inspection of plants and the professional guidance of the electricians. This requires partial work offshore (20-40%) in a 7- or 14-day shift pattern.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
