At Milwaukee Tool we firmly believe that our People and our Culture are the secrets to our success – so we give you unlimited access to everything you need to create disruptive new technologies and solutions on our electrical engineering teams.

Our Engineering Team is responsible for giving life to the batteries, motors, and electronics that power solutions changing the lives of our users. Every developmental phase of these critical components happens in-house under the watch of this team. We continue to invest in electrical engineering resources to design and develop leadership in electronic capabilities; something unique within the industry. And we’re pushing the limits in firmware engineering, power electronics, embedded systems, machine learning, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Behind our doors you’ll be empowered every day to own it, drive it, and do what it takes to design and develop the biggest breakthroughs in the industry. Meanwhile, you’ll have the support and resources of the fastest-growing brand in the construction industry to make it happen.

Year after year, our team continues to make significant breakthroughs in the industry. We’re just getting started. To learn more about our story click  HERE.

As a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer within our Lighting and Lifestyle team, you will be responsible for the management of multiple projects simultaneously in new product development and leading-edge electrical engineering. Project focus will be based on Milwaukee Tool Jobsite Cleanup systems. Every project entails the inventive exploration of form and function with passion for the interactions between the user and the product or system. You will not only be responsible for working collaboratively with internal groups, but multiple external suppliers, designers, and vendors both domestic and international. Therefore organization, timeline management, communication, and attention to technical detail will ensure that you are successful in this role.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Own electrical system architecture and design from concept through production, ensuring performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability targets are achieved
  • Drive both internal and external development efforts, including:
    • Leading in-house design, prototyping, and hands-on development when required
    • Guiding and holding suppliers accountable for outsourced design execution, ensuring alignment to Milwaukee standards
  • Define system requirements, specifications, and validation plans based on voice-of-customer and application needs
  • Lead technical decision-making, including tradeoff analysis across performance, cost, reliability, and schedule
  • Develop, prototype, troubleshoot, and validate electrical systems, including hands-on lab work, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Partner with suppliers to develop and mature designs from concept through production, ensuring manufacturing readiness and design robustness
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies to drive product performance and user experience differentiation
  • Communicate technical direction, risks, and progress clearly across cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Drive urgency in project execution, owning timelines, deliverables, and accountability to key project metrics
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Milwaukee’s development and manufacturing processes
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with global engineering teams and suppliers
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, reinforcing engineering excellence and Milwaukee Tool culture
  • Be willing to provide hands-on support across all phases of development, from early concepting through production launch
  • Build and expand internal electrical design capability over time, reducing reliance on external development where appropriate

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of experience in a related design field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude
  • Knowledge of power electronics and motor control.
  • Broad-based experience with analog circuitry and embedded systems
  • Understanding of Firmware development and programming best practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to potentially travel 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiarity with advanced simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, or SPICE) and design software (Altium)
  • Familiarity with EMC / EMI and ESD design practices.
  • Experience with portable electronics, power tools, or consumer electronics
  • Familiarity with mechanical design, motor design, and thermal management concepts

We provide these great perks and benefits:

  • Robust health, dental and vision insurance plans.
  • Generous 401 (K) savings plan.
  • Education assistance.
  • On-site wellness, fitness center, food, and coffee service.
