The Senior Electrical Project Engineer BESS m/f/d is entrusted with managing essential engineering work packages across several concurrent projects. With a strong sense of ownership, this role involves independently handling tasks, making informed decisions, and ensuring that all deliverables align with safety, quality, budget, and schedule expectations.

About the role

  • Own the end-to-end technical execution of electrical designs, including conceptual development, design reviews, and integration of project requirements into specifications and architecture.
  • Lead reporting on technical status to the Execution Project Manager and manage design freezes, change processes, and documentation in line with stakeholder and regulatory expectations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring compliance with HSE, safety, and regulatory standards throughout all project phases.
  • Independently manage technical interfaces and collaboration across disciplines, contractors, and experts, coordinating inputs to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority during commissioning, supervising site activities and guiding smooth operational handover in close cooperation with the Site Construction Manager.

Job requirements and experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or in a similar field of engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the renewable power and/or power and/or transmission industries.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role in project execution.
  • Familiarity with top tier battery suppliers, DC/AC, DC/DC power conversion systems, automation controllers, communications devices, transformers, protection devices and/or medium voltage switchgear.
  • Business fluent English.

Advantageous, but no essential

  • Experience in compliance with electrical and utility grid codes.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology, business process mapping, task management and software tools for collaboration and improving work efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of energy storage projects and industry trends with primary focus on batteries, storage and related solutions.
  • Familiarity with EPLAN and PowerFactory.
  • German language skills are a plus.
