Senior Electrical Engineer – New Plant Construction Location: Initially Remote

Location: Initially Remote with Extensive Travel | Permanent Relocation to Defiance, OH Required

Our client is a well-established consumer products manufacturer with an outstanding culture and long-term growth strategy. The company is building a brand-new manufacturing facility in Defiance, Ohio, and is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and execution for large-scale capital projects.

This is a high-impact, senior-level role with both technical and leadership responsibilities.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Project Lead for power systems, electrical design, and controls for the new plant construction. This individual will drive electrical scope from design through installation, commissioning, and startup while supporting projects across other company facilities during the initial phase.

For the first six months, the role will require travel 3 out of 4 weeks per month to existing plants. Once the Defiance facility is under construction, the candidate must permanently relocate to the Defiance, OH area.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design and execution for large capital projects
• Serve as SME for electrical power distribution systems (high voltage to low voltage)
• Oversee installation, startup, and commissioning of electrical systems
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget for electrical components
• Provide technical leadership for drives, motors, PLCs, and control systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and contractors
• Coach, mentor, and train engineers and technicians

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
• Proven experience managing large capital projects in a manufacturing environment
• Strong background in electrical design and power distribution (high voltage to low voltage)
• Experience with VFDs, motor controls, drives, and PLC systems
• Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens controls platforms
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
• Willingness to travel extensively (3 weeks per month for first 6 months) and relocate permanently to Defiance, OH

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-speed manufacturing or consumer products manufacturing
• DCS experience (plus, not required)
• Strong hands-on plant floor experience
