Responsibilities - Functional

• Lead and coordinate electrical design teams

• Ensure project schedule and budget adherence

• Ensure design quality and compliance with client and statutory requirements

• Review and approve electrical designs and calculations

• Perform electrical network studies and protection grading

• Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal disciplines

• Oversee FAT and SAT activities

Commitment & Authorisations

• Authorised to approve electrical deliverables

• Authorised to adjudicate vendor bids

• Authorised to validate compliance to IEC/SABS standards

Objectives of the function

• Deliver safe and compliant electrical designs

• Ensure multi-disciplinary alignment

• Lead heavy-current design activities

• Mentor junior staff

• Support commissioning and site execution

Mission and tasks

• Lead electrical engineering for EPC/EPCM projects

• Perform electrical network studies and protection grading

• Design HV, MV and LV substations and overhead lines

• Develop electrical specifications and technical documentation

• Perform SCADA and communication system functional design

• Conduct hazardous area classification studies

• Oversee FAT and SAT activities

• Perform field engineering (lighting, earthing, cable routing, cathodic protection)

• Ensure compliance with IEC/SABS and client specifications

• Review and approve engineering outputs

• Strong multi-disciplinary engineering understanding

• HV/MV/LV design expertise

• Strong communication and reporting ability

• Team leadership

• Planning and organisation

Prerequisites

• Knowledge of hazardous area requirements

• Interpretation of MFDs and P&IDs

• Strong documentation skills

Experience

• 12 years electrical design experience

• 6+ years in Oil & Gas

• Protection grading experience

• Field engineering exposure

• Substation design experience
